MobileBeat: Emantras brings classrooms to mobile devices with Mobl21

Emantras is one of 20 promising startups included in the MobileBeat 2010 Startup Competition, and is in the running for one of two coveted Tesla Awards.
Educators looking to reach their students outside of the classroom may have a new tool at their disposal. Emantras, a company that develops online and mobile educational tools, has today officially launched Mobl21, a platform for creating, managing and distributing educational content to the web and mobile devices.
Mobl21 targets individual students and teachers as well as institutions like colleges and universities. Each account allows the users to create educational content like study guides, flash cards or quizzes, then manage the content to specific groups and, finally, publish it to mobile devices or social networks. The institutional account appoints an admin and allows that person to add additional users to create and publish. Accounts range from free to $9,600 per year.
Several other companies are offering educational mobility services, including Blackboard, Float Learning and Outstart.
The Fremont, Calif.-based company, founded in 2000, appears to have some well-known customers, including Pearson Education, Nasa, IKEA, Lufthansa, Siemens and Danfoss.
